Terms of Service
Plain-English terms for a product that handles your money. Read them — they are short on purpose.
Effective July 31, 2026
Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Budget & Beyond ("we", "us"). They cover your use of the Budget & Beyond website, waitlist and application (together, the "Service").
By joining the waitlist, creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What Budget & Beyond is — and what it is not
Budget & Beyond is a personal finance tool. It helps you see your accounts in one place, plan a budget, and build dashboards that answer questions about your own numbers.
We are not a bank, broker-dealer, investment adviser, tax adviser or credit-repair service, and we do not hold or move your money. Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Decisions about your money are yours to make, and we encourage you to consult a licensed professional before making significant ones.
Who may use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is offered to residents of the United States; we make no claim that it is appropriate for use elsewhere.
You agree to give us accurate information and to keep it current.
Your account
You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential. Tell us promptly if you believe someone has used your account without your permission.
You may close your account at any time. See "Ending this agreement" below for what happens to your data.
The waitlist and founding-member pricing
Joining the waitlist reserves your place in line and, where we say so, a founding-member rate. It does not create a subscription, does not charge you anything, and does not guarantee a launch date.
Prices, plan names and the features in each plan shown before launch are our current intent and may change. If we change the founding-member offer before you have accepted it, we will tell waitlist members by email first. Once you have started a paid founding-member subscription, we will honor that rate for as long as the subscription stays active without interruption.
You can leave the waitlist at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by writing to us.
Subscriptions, billing and cancellation
Paid plans are billed in advance on the interval you choose (monthly or annual) and renew automatically until you cancel. You authorize us and our payment processor to charge your payment method for each renewal.
You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments already made are non-refundable.
If we change the price of a plan, we will give you notice before the change takes effect, and you may cancel before renewing.
Connecting your financial accounts
You may connect bank, card and brokerage accounts through our data providers. Those connections are read-only: they let us import balances, transactions and holdings so the Service can show them to you. They do not let us — or anyone else — move money.
When you connect an account, you confirm that you own it or are authorized to access it, and you authorize us and our providers to retrieve that data on your behalf. Your relationship with your financial institution is still governed by your agreement with them. You can disconnect an account at any time.
Imported data comes from your institutions through third parties. We display it as we receive it and cannot guarantee it is complete, current or accurate — always treat your institution as the record of truth.
AI features
Parts of the Service use AI: it can answer questions about your finances in plain language and generate dashboard widgets you describe. To do this we send the relevant portion of your data to our AI provider on your behalf.
AI output can be wrong. Generated summaries, figures and widgets are provided for convenience and are not verified advice — check anything you plan to act on. Generated widgets run in an isolated sandbox with read-only access to your own data.
You may not use the AI features to try to extract other users’ data, to reverse-engineer the underlying models, or to generate unlawful content.
Acceptable use
When using the Service, you agree not to:
- break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or use the Service to defraud anyone;
- access another person’s account or data, or attempt to defeat our security controls;
- probe, scan, overload or disrupt the Service, or introduce malicious code;
- scrape, copy or resell the Service or its content, or use it to build a competing product;
- reverse-engineer or decompile any part of the Service, except where the law says you may.
Your data and content
Your financial data and anything you create in the Service stay yours. You give us a limited license to host, process, transmit and display that content strictly to operate and improve the Service for you, and to do the things described in our Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your financial data to train AI models.
Our intellectual property
The Service itself — software, design, the Budget & Beyond name and logo, and our content — belongs to us and our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you beyond the right to use the Service as permitted here.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties — data providers, hosting, payments, email and AI — and may link to sites we do not control. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, and your use of them may be governed by their own terms.
Changes to the Service
We are building actively, and the Service will change. We may add, alter or discontinue features. If we discontinue a feature you rely on, or the Service as a whole, we will give reasonable notice where we can and, if you have prepaid for a period we cannot deliver, a pro-rata refund for it.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that imported data will be accurate or complete.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither we nor our suppliers are liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or financial losses arising from decisions you make using the Service.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars.
These limits apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose, and they do not limit liability that cannot be limited by law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of someone else’s rights.
Ending this agreement
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
When your account is deleted we remove or de-identify your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy, except where we must retain records to meet a legal obligation.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not, you may stop using the Service and cancel.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Before filing anything formal, please write to us at info@budgetandbeyond.com — nearly everything is faster to fix that way. Any dispute we cannot resolve informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California, and we each consent to their jurisdiction.
One exception: either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court, in a location permitted by that court’s rules, if the claim qualifies to be heard there. That route is cheaper and faster than a lawsuit, and nothing in this section is meant to discourage it.
General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
